“Sapna and Ashish met while taking a summer class at Cypress College. His opening line? “So… what did you think of that calculus test” (obviously he had no game!) But regardless, it was that line that eventually led to the beginning of a lifelong friendship and a mutual love and respect for each other. Since then, they’ve survived six years of maintaining a long distance relationship while Sapna went to the east coast for college and medical school. A combination of phone calls and visits as well as never forgetting what it felt like when they were finally together allowed their relationship to survive. In retrospect, the long distance allowed each of them to grow into their own person and strengthened their faith in each other and their relationship. Sapna finally returned to California for residency! Ashish proposed on June 27th along the lake at Cypress College where they first met after tricking her into thinking she was dropping her brother off at volleyball practice (can you believe it, she was wearing sweats!).”
