Of course each and every brides wants to look stunning on her wedding day.  What’s the biggest thing on these brides’ minds right after they get engaged – THE WEDDING DRESS!  Studies show that the wedding dress the the first thing that many brides shop for, sometimes even before setting a date!  The majority of brides stress about their wedding the most prior to buying that perfect dress.  Be beautiful – be in style with the top 5 wedding dress trends of 2010.

5. Be Edgy

This trend has a tendency to go hand in hand with the number 2 asymmetry wedding dress trend. To make wedding dresses more interesting, designers have been cutting necklines, trains, and layers in an “edgy” way. This means that brides don’t simply have straight cuts on their wedding dresses, they will have a raw and classy look of layers and differing lengths of materials.

4. Shine, Glitz, and Glamor

Be a fancy bride. Many brides will stay away from the bright colors and dark hues to venture into another area – shine, glitz, and glamor! Your wedding dress can match this style as well. Metallic effects on wedding dresses are becoming increasingly popular because they give your dress a shiny look. This goes great with brides that are big fans of silver and/or gold. I hint of sparkly shoes, a shiny satin ribbon around your empire waistband, or a small glitzy bow on your dress will make a huge impact. The great thing about this trend is that it’s small and simple with a hint of some glitz – the key is not to go overboard with too much shine and sparkle.

3. Go Sheer!

Sheer materials are see-through and they give a delicate look to the bride. A glamorous trend is to have some type of sheer material part on your dress. The most popular wedding dress trend involving sheer material is sheer straps. This is most popular due to the all-time favorite strapless wedding dress, so now brides get the strapless wedding dress, but have sheer straps so that the dress can be a little different. Other places for sheer material are the neckline, back, train, and on one side of the gown to reveal a little leg.

2. Asymmetry

No one wants a boring, plain old white wedding gown. Asymmetry is in and you should take advantage of it! Brides in 2010 will be “one-strapping” it, meaning that they will have a bare shoulder and a strap only on one side. This is a great new trend that is shifting away from the typical and all-too-popular strapless gown. Another way to “asymmetrize” your wedding dress are to have a unique neckline that falls lower on one side than the other. The most popular seems to be to have a flower or bow off center to the side of your hip, back or chest. A diving back line that’s askew to one side is the most unique and subtle way to play your way into this great trend!

1. A Hint of Color

An elegant and traditional wedding dress is all white – the most popular wedding dress trend of 2010 begs to differ! White is fine and dandy, but one of the top trends from 2009 and now heading into 2010 as the number one wedding dress trend – it is to have a hint of color in your wedding dress! This could be a beautiful colored flower or bow, it could also be a colored streak or ribbon around your waist. Any way you decide to go – a little color is in and it turns out GREAT in pictures! Usually, brides will have a hint of their wedding color in their dress so that it matches the centerpieces, flowers, and the rest of the wedding decor. The most common colors are ruby red, soft pink, sapphire, emerald green, navy blue, and soft yellow.

Whether you’re shopping for a bargain or not, your dream wedding dress should be different than any other bride’s. Incorporate these new trends into your decision to make your wedding dress unique and beautiful.

Incorporating color in your wedding attire is an excellent idea. If adding color to your wedding gown is not an option, consider adding color in your headpiece or wedding veil. Wedding veils may be trimmed with colored ribbon or colored corded edges.

Most current shows are showcasing their gowns without veils, opting for a more minimalistic look. In talking to other brides I’ve come to learn that the veil really isn’t a integral part of their wedding day look.
